Sterling silver care is essential if you want your jewelry to look its best. Tarnish on your favorite piece can really ruin your mood. If you fear that it's forever ruined, don't!

How water affects sterling silver

Water itself is not harmful to silver, but the pollutants and chemicals in water can tarnish and dull your silver, so it is best not to shower with your jewellery on.
We also advise you to take off your silver pieces in the pool, as chlorine is a pretty harsh chemical.
A hot bath with silver jewellery on is also not a good idea, not only because of the presence of the same chlorine but also because the heat may speed up the chemical reaction.

Take your jewellery off in hot springs, as the sulphur will surely affect your jewellery.

Proper storage

Exposure to air can cause your silver to tarnish. Do not just leave it lying around. It is best to store your silver in individual sealed bags.
Do not put several pieces in one bag as this can cause tangling, scratches and tarnishing.

It is also best to remove jewelry when exercising and in very hot places (e.g. when lying on the beach).
If you use a cream or lotion, wait until it has completely absorbed before putting on your silver jewelry.

Polishing

Use a simple microfibre cloth or a special jewellery cloth (not paper) to clean your jewellery.
Fyr 7  packaging provides you with such a cloth. Just make sure that you do not polish a part of your jewellery that is intentionally oxidized.

Also, you can use water and baking soda method for cleaning. 

You will need 2 parts water and 1 part baking soda. Stir to a paste. You can apply it with an old toothbrush, for example.

With the proper care, your sterling silver earrings, bracelets and rings will look like new for years to come.
